In celebration of the Mardi Gras Festival the good businesses in Potts Point and Kings Cross have renamed their precinct Queens Cross, which is a nice arc when you consider that the area WAS originally called Queens Cross, until the death of Queen Victoria.
It also is an area with a long, supportive history within the LGBT community and was in fact the scene of the first Mardi Gras after-party after the first ever parade in 1978. It did actually turn into a riot, but thats another story! Check out the ABC series of same name for a bit of scenery and history of the Cross as we all know and knew it. If those walls could talk!
Anyway the idea is to announce that Queens Cross is open for business, despite being left out of the lock-out lift and, whilst not the after-party suburb it sure can be the before-party go-to place, for wine and dine with some of the best restaurants and bars on offer in Sydney.
And also, as always, welcoming and LGBT friendly!
